Location

9, South College Street, Edinburgh EH8 9AA.

South College Street is an excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh's cultural district - Edinburgh University, the Festival Theatre, Blackwells, the Royal and Scottish museums and the National and City Libraries are all within half a mile. It is a cobbled street in Edinburgh's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage area, and former neighbours included Darwin (who had student digs in a house now demolished at the end of the street),William McGonagall (who died at no. 5), Walter Scott (born on the other side of the university Old College) and J.K.Rowling (a temporary resident, writing in a nearby cafe). On a practical note there are numerous buses on the adjacent South Bridge and Chambers Street and parking is usually available. And, being Edinburgh, there is even a sea view from the doorstep.
